Mini-Bio
I was raised in northern Virginia and played every sport they'd let me. I injured my low back/hip while playing baseball at Radford University in Virginia. I was treated by a physical therapist, an orthopedic, a primary care md, and an athletic trainer, but no one made the difference for me until I got chiropractic treatment. That day I knew what I wanted to do with my life. I'm a fitness consultant and sports chiropractor in South Florida and I'm dedicated to helping people maintain the well-oiled machine that their bodies could be. I'm certified as a Functional Rehab specialist, a Titleist Performance Institute golf fitness specialist, an Active Release Technique provider as well as a former personal trainer. Can Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy make you feel better?

One of the things we've been seeing in the clinic here lately is how much our athletes are enjoying Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy.  Our clients love utilizing the therapy to speed up healing and help them recover, not matter what injury we're talking about.

Hyperbaric Therapy has been around for a long time.  It actually started when scuba divers would report feel refreshed and invigorated after diving.  So medical studies began looking for a healing link when one is exposed to breathing in a high pressure environment.

What they've found is that the therapy increases the ability of the cells of our body to absorb oxygen because of the highly pressurized environment.  Some hyperbaric therapy companies claim that while receiving hyperbaric therapy, tissues absorbed 25x the amount of oxygen it normally does.  This leads to increased energy (ATP synthesis) and recovery.

Historically hospitals are the only ones carrying hyperbaric oxygen chambers, but now it's becoming more available to the common person.  I know for our chamber, we've have several local orthopedic doctors that like prescribing hyperbaric therapy after surgery and we have a great deal of athletes looking to recover quicker to increase their performance.  It's most popular with athletes that looking to prepare for an event when they need to be their best like a fight, a competition or a race.
